eBay tool lets sellers create sharable generative AI listing videos
eBay continues enabling sellers to enhance their product listings with artificial intelligence solutions.
A new generative AI video tool allows eBay sellers to transform product listing images into professional-quality videos. The solution uses AI to create short form video content from existing listing images with no need for video editing skills, extra equipment, or hours of work.
Sellers can customize these videos and share them directly to social platforms like YouTube and TikTok. The generative AI video tool is available when users are creating a social post directly from the eBay Seller Hub and is now available for U.S. sellers.
"Videos are a popular format for social sharing, with many social platforms prioritizing video content," eBay said in a corporate blog post. "Listings with videos can increase visibility, expand buyer engagement, and help build brand presence across multiple channels."
eBay develops AI solutions to streamline product listings
eBay continues equipping sellers on its platform with AI. The e-commerce giant recently released a new selling tool called the "magical bulk listing tool" that leverages generative AI to let sellers upload batches of product images for which eBay will generate draft listings with suggested categories, titles, and item specifics within seconds.
In June 2024, the retailer introduced an AI-based background enhancement tool allowing sellers to remove a background from an existing product listing photo, leaving just the actual item they are selling, and then place that item in a new AI-generated backdrop chosen from a variety of scenes and themes.
In December 2023, eBay released a new feature based on generative AI technology that enables sellers to draft social media posts with the click a button.
And in September 2023, the e-tailer released what it termed a "magical" seller listing solution that uses AI to analyze, research and extrapolate details about listings from a small amount of seller-provided data, including images.
